Hotlink Question...

On one of my pages I have a 30MB streaming media (asf) file (yes, I am the copyright holder). Can I protect it from hotlinking the same way as a picture?

Have you tried using cpanel's hotlink protection? I know it protects against more than just image stealing.

Test it out once and if it doesn't work there are scripts out there that may be able to help.

I don't seem to see how I can protect just 1 file through cPanel. I need to continue to allow hotlinking to several images by eBay and other sites and just protect this one big file.

You could add ebay into the allowed list. Just make sure to add both versions of their URL

www. and without the www.


Or have you thought about putting the file in a folder and password protecting it and only giving out the login information to people you want to see the file?
